From coaching, to gardening, to assisting with special events, we have the volunteer opportunity for you!
Please utilize our Volunteer Handbook as you begin your volunteer experience with us. The Handbook is designed to orient you to the Minneapolis Park system as well as familiarize you with volunteer-related policies, procedures and work rules.

- Roll On!
Over 150 volunteers are needed to support riders at the 4th Annual Minneapolis Bike Tour on Sunday, Sept. 19. Volunteer positions include registration, water stop support, bike marshals and more. Please contact Michelle Kellogg at mkellogg@minneapolisparks.org if you or your group are interested in supporting this fun and exciting event!
- Gardening
Show us your green thumb! Volunteer days are scheduled at many of our formal gardens for the summer. Please see the details below or visit our Gardening Opportunities page for more information:
- Loring Garden of the Seasons – Join us on Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:30pm in June, July and August. One-time and on-going volunteers are welcomed. For more information, please email gardenatloring@minneapolisparks.org or call the Loring Garden Friends Hotline at 612-673-5395.
- Lyndale Park Rose Garden Deadheaders – Looking for some Thursday or Friday fun? Join us on Thursday mornings from 10am-noon for weeding in the Peace Garden or Friday mornings from 10am-noon at Rose Garden where you will work alongside our gardeners to deadhead more than 100 varieties of roses. These opportunities are great for individuals or small groups (fewer than 10). Please call 612-370-4838 or email volunteer@minneapolisparks.org for more information.
- Nokomis Naturescape – Join community volunteers in the Nokomis Naturescape (located at 50th Street E and Nokomis Parkway) on Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Contact Vicki Bonk for more info: 612-727-3562 or vbonk@usiwireless.com.
- Coaches Needed for Youth Sports
Are you a sports enthusiast who enjoys being around youth in a lively and fun atmosphere? Over 600 of our youth sports teams rely on a volunteer coach! Summer sports include baseball, softball, t-ball and track and field. Fall sports include soccer and football. Please contact us at volunteer@minneapolisparks.org or 612-230-6434 for more information
- Customer Service Representative at Creekview and Webber Recreation Centers
Provide quality customer service to the community, be knowledgeable of programs, events, and classes going on at the park. Take registrations, greet facility users, answer phone calls and provide information to the public. Shift time: Weekdays from 2pm-4pm. Shift dates/schedule are flexible to meet the volunteer’s needs.
